Donkey Jaw / Quijada De Burro (QUI008)
One of the main instruments of the afroperuvian percussion, developed in the coast of Peru.
A Donkey or a Horse prepares themselves from inferior maxilar of it. Ornamented with typical mofits and that it is used specially as a march instrument in the carnivals and religious celebrations in Hispano-America and Peru.
Both sounds, very particular and characteristic of the instrument, obtain when striking maxilar with the hand, which produces a vibration of teeth within the bone, and the other, when rubbing these teeth with a piece of bone or wood.
Also it is known as Charaina, Carretilla or Kahuaha
